The rain was falling through the trees,
We gathered close beneath the leaves.
Orumi heard a rhythm in the rain
And gave us reason to remain.
A flash of blue against the grey,
He paused, then chose another way.
Where we saw puddles on the ground,
He pictured something made of sound.

A thought away, the rain becomes a rhythm.
The stones beneath our feet begin to play.
If you can hear it too, come stand beside me—
There’s something here worth staying for today.

He thought of stepping stones that sing
And gave each one a different ring.
We moved across from stone to stone
And found a song we’d call our own.
We left the picnic by the tree,
Forgot how late the day might be.
He found a place for every one of us
Between the rainfall and the melody.
